I was asked by a Boston area university to give a talk to Asian American students (mostly) on breaking the cycle of generational trauma. I chose to speak on fighting against racism, and internalized racism, especially for those who grew up in mostly white areas who were surrounded by way too high a percentage of white folks who made racist jokes, both “subtly” and more overtly, and how I’ve used photography in that fight.
