Manti Te’o was the victim of an elaborate hoax

I watched the Manti Te’o Netflix documentary on being catfished, Untold: The Girlfriend Who Didn’t Exist.

1. Manti Te’o was the victim of a very elaborate hoax by a man, Ronaiah, who ended up transitioning to a woman, Naya. Ronaiah felt more comfortable pretending to be Lennay. He catfished many men as Lennay, and it got to 1 degree of separation from Manti, and those people corroborated her existence.

2. Diane O’Meara’s Xanga profile says “I like to laugh and have fun with my friends.” Who doesn’t like to laugh and have fun? I like to breathe oxygen and drink liquids

(Diane was the source of the pics of the fictitious Lennay.)

I don’t know if the animations/screengrabs were accurate to what Diane’s Xanga page actually said.

3. Ronaiah robbed Manti Te’o of probably greatness in the NFL and millions because he wasn’t drafted in the first round, but Manti seems like a great man, and likely will avoid CTE. The public humiliation traumatized Manti a lot that he was no longer able to play free like he did in college.

If you don’t have time for a 2 hr documentary, watch the last 10 min of the documentary before the 5 min preview of other “Untold” episodes. Manti being open about how hurt he was being made fun of and also forgiving Naya.
